The Borough of Matawan manages two parking lots which are owned by NJ Transit.
Daily Parking Lot
The daily parking lot (LOT #2) is located on the south side of the railroad tracks between Main Street and Atlantic Ave. The daily lot parking fee is $5.75 by Parkmobile App per day. When parking your vehicle, take notice of the parking stall number and pay at the Parkmobile App Zone #37456 or Text Park to 77223. The lot operates on a "first come - first served" basis. The lot is usually filled to capacity by 6:00am to 6:30am, Monday through Friday. Overnight parking is permitted in the daily lot. Please deposit $5.00 plus .75 using the Parkmobile App, for each day you plan to leave your vehicle in the lot (5 day limit). Weekend parking (Saturday and Sunday) is generally available.
Permit Parking
The Permit Parking lot (LOT #1) is the triangular shaped lot located on the North Side of the railroad tracks between Main Street and Atlantic Ave. Annual permits are $500.00 for the full year (January to December only), or $160.00 for a quarterly (three month) permit effective 1/01/26. Permits are NOT currently on waitlist.
Free Parking
Both the daily lot and permit lot are open to the general public on Saturdays and Sundays and federal legal holidays, no permit is required and there is no fee in either lot. The Matawan Permit Lot opens to the general public AFTER 11:00 am Monday through Friday. A parking permit is not required AFTER 11:00 am and there is no fee charged for parking.
Temporary Summer Parking Permits
The Borough of Matawan has instituted a summer parking permit program. A limited number of permits have been issued for a four month period, usually May 1 to August 31. The permits are sold on a first come first served basis.
Application forms will be available at the NJ Transit Ticket Office in the Matawan-Aberdeen Train Station or at the Matawan Municipal Community Center at 201 Broad Street in Matawan (8:30 -4:30 PM) Monday thru Friday.
Fee: $225.00 for the 4 month parking ( May 1 through August 31)

Do Not return forms to NJ Transit Ticket Agent. This program may be suspended in the future depending on parking conditions. The summer permits are not renewable, and do not affect your status on the Matawan Borough RR parking waitlist.
