Construction Permits

Permit applications can be obtained from Aberdeen Building Department
John Quinn
Director - Planning, Zoning and Development
732-583-4200 ext. 120 or from the NJ Department of Community Affairs website at http://www.state.nj.us/dca/divisions/codes/resources/constructionpermitforms.html

Every permit application requires completion of the following forms:

     - UCC Construction Permit Folder

     - Construction Permit

     - Applicable sub code technical forms (building, electric, plumbing, and fire)

Plumbing & electrical permit applications shall be completed by persons licensed to perform such work pursuant to law, except in the case of a single family homeowner on his own dwelling.

All Home Improvement Contractors are required to be registered with the State of NJ and provide a copy of their registration with all construction permit applications. The NJ Division of Consumer Affairs provides a website which allows you to check to see if a contractor is registered.  The information is located at http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/Pages/verification.aspx .

If applicable, the applicant must submit two (2) copies of the construction plans that can be drawn either by the applicant for his/her own single-family dwelling or by a licensed NJ Architect or Engineer. All commercial building plans must be drawn by a licensed NJ Architect or Engineer.

Plan review may take up to 20 business days. If additional information is required by any of the subcode officials for your permit, a letter will be sent detailing the items required to continue processing the application. Once plan review has been completed, you will be contacted to pay for your permit.
