Join New Jersey’s Community Solar Energy Program

The Borough of Matawan encourages residents to explore New Jersey’s Community Solar Energy Program, an initiative of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) and the New Jersey Clean Energy Program.

This program allows residents — including renters, homeowners, and small businesses — to support local solar projects and save money on their electricity bills without needing to install solar panels on their property. By subscribing to a community solar project, participants receive credits on their monthly electric bills for the clean energy generated by their share of the project.

Benefits of Community Solar

  • Save money on your energy bills (typically 10–20% annual savings)
  • Support local clean energy development
  • Reduce your carbon footprint
  • No installation or maintenance required

Who Can Participate

All residents and small businesses served by JCP&L, PSE&G, or Atlantic City Electric are eligible to subscribe to a community solar project.
