BOROUGH OF MATAWAN PARK FACILITIES

 

The Borough of Matawan has several public parks including

1.} Jeremiah E. Hourihan Field located on Broad Street with ballfield and playground

2.} Clinton Street Youth Center, Playground, Basketball Court & Handball Wall

3.} Freneau Baseball Field located off of Rt. 79 North across the street from St. Clement's Church

4.} Gravelly Brook Park located off of Claire Court. The facility has bathrooms, a playground, a baseball/soccer field, and basketball courts.

5.} Joseph Penniplede Park, located on Jackson Street, which has basketball courts, a playground, and a handball wall

6.} Lake Lefferts located on Ravine Drive which has a boat launch (electric motors only),fishing docks (state permits required)and a facility that rents canoes, single and tandem kayaks, and paddleboats.

7.} Memorial Park which honors the Borough's veterans on Memorial Day, and has a monument to Borough Firemen.

8.} The Pocket Park on Main Street and Ravine Drive

9.} Terhune Park on South Street between Main and Broad Streets which has a playground facility and is the location of the annual Matawan Celebration, and

10.} Toomer Baseball Field located on Middlesex Road.

It should be noted that several community groups obtain permits to utilize the parks throughout the year so the recreation department should be contacted regarding availability. The number to call is 732-566-3898 x130.
