Yard Waste Recycling

 

 

The Department of Public Works picks up residential yard waste from the curb the first Tuesday of every month. The program is suspended from November through February to allow department personnel to focus on curbside leaf removal.

  • Tree branches with a maximum length of three feet and a maximum diameter of three inches.  Please tie in bundles not weighing more than 25 pounds.  Place behind the curb.
  • Other vegetative waste such as leaves, sticky balls, vines, and shrub trimmings may be placed in brown recyclable bags. Place them at the curb for regular Tuesday pick up or deliver waste to the appropriate dumpster located at the Matawan Recycling Center.
  • Grass will not be picked up. It can be taken to the Monmouth County Recycling Facility in Tinton Falls. You will be charged a fee.
  • Shrubs weighing not more than twenty-five pounds, with all the soil removed, can be placed curb side, or taken to the Recycling Center.
  • Stumps will not be picked up.  Residents must arrange with a private contractor for removal.
  • Landscapers performing large re-landscaping projects are responsible for the removal of any resulting vegetative waste.  They may not place it curbside or deposit it at the Recycling Center.
  • Regular curbside pickup of yard debris is suspended November through February of each year to allow DPW personnel to focus on the leaf recycling program.  Residents may still take yard debris to the Matawan Recycling Center
